Pain occurs every time I try to change the position i.e. while bending and straightening of the knee.

Its because of the lack of muscular strength of your knee. Consult a physiotherapist.
Next Steps
Go to a physiotherapist.. Ultrasonic therapy +IFT +wax therapy +some strengthening exercises will be helpful for sure.

At home.. Rest +hot water fomentation +pain killer gel +no long standing /walking /stair climbing +no cold exposure +use knee cap +do cycling +no squatting.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
