By putting the child to the breast to suckle.. every time .. I repeat .. every time before a feed .. the quantity of milk increases. Holding the baby and bonding with him will go a long way in maintaining a positive outlook on feeding.. and it certainly helps. Check the breast and nipples in case they are retracted or cracked. This can always be remedied. I know early motherhood is not easy..and you can still establish lactation.. You can also take help from the other family members in burping the baby and keeping an eye on him when you rest. A good diet and lactagogues also work. If you still are not able to feed him too well and adequately .. suggest you meet your paediatrician again before introducing any other milk before 6 months of age. .. as an exclusive breast milk diet is the best for baby till then...

Continue mother feeding only Check these signs if these are yes No need to be worried 1) baby is gaining weight 2) passing urine > 6 times a day 3) sleeping for 1-2 hours in between feeds That means milk is sufficient 2) if the answer is NO : support with milk powder 3) never give cow or buffalo mills or packed milk
