OSMF - Do all OSMF turn Cancerous
I have a mouth opening of 26mm, I visited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and he told me that it is OSMF and assured we it is not cancerous and 4-5 sittings of steroid injections will help in getting a better mouth opening, he told me that it can't be reversed but can be stopped at this stage.
I have decided to quit Pan Masala and Cigarette and will be going for Steroid therapy
I just want to know if I go for this treatment and stop pan masala and tobacco intake completely, Can I still get Cancer. Articles on OSMF on internet are very scary, though my dr has assured me that it can't turn to cancer of I stop my bad habits completely
Need an advise here

Don't be scared or tensed. Not all OSMF turn into cancer though you need to be very cautious and go for regular follow ups even after you complete with intralesional steroid injections. PLEASE DO STOP ALL TOBACCO PRODUCTSAND CONSUMPTION OF HOT AND SPICY FOOD AND ALCOHOL IMMEDIATELY. Maintain proper oral hygiene and if you start getting cheek bites (reduced mouth opening increases chances of cheek bites) then do go to your maxillofacial surgeon immediately and get treated accordingly as such constant trauma can worse the situation.

Discontinue the habit of smoking or pan chewing completely. Injection of steroids along with combination of drugs and physiotherapy to be done.certain lab investigations has to be done to know the current status of lesion.you can consult through this for further information on investigations and medications.

u can get injections it's going to be useful, it can be reversed by laser treatment as well as by surgical intervention.
even I had treated many patients with more restricted opening and having v good successful outcome

As the doctors have already said you that it's totally curable, you need not have to be worried.but as you said,you need to be away from tobacco chewing forever.If you try to get back to the habit, then there is chances of getting back OSMF which may later became cancerous.
Please go through the treatment and follow the instructions appropriately,and you will be totally out of the problem very soon.
