Orthodontic elastics/ rubber bands
Hello, Usually elastics are put on 24*7 apart from brushing and eating. Is it ok if elastics are not worn for around 2 hrs after monthly braces tightening appointment.

Elastics should be worn regularly to improve the efficacy of tooth movement. The more regularly you wear them, the faster tooth movement and faster results will be achieved. You can wear rubber bands while eating as well. (if comfortable) Remove only if necessary. Please follow instructions given by your orthodontist.

Hi,    Removing rubber bands for your convenience is ok. But you have to keep in mind that for proper and faster movement of your teeth the rubber bands should be on for as much time as possible.

Rubber bands need to be worn constantly, unless you are brushing and flossing. The more you wear them, the quicker you will complete your treatment. If you want your teeth to move even faster, try to wear the rubber bands while eating. It is fine to remove them for meals if you want, but the longest you should ever have them out of your mouth is a half hour.
