I am facing gum recession for my lower front tooth. Few doctors advised me that it is due to my upper tooth hitting it and bite problem. I'm not having bite issue for other teeth. Do I need to go for braces? If so, can I take the treatment for just one or two teeth rather than the complete mouth. Also, what is the minimum duration of the treatment?

Hello,
Gum recession may be due to poor oral hygiene and malaligned teeth.
And if orthodontic treatment is done it cannot be done for 2 or 3 teeth it has to be done using all teeth.
First a proper diagnosis is required after which treatment can be planned.

Hi..gum recession happens due to gum disease. Gum disease happens due to wrong teeth alignment and bad oral hygiene. You need to go laser gum treatment if you are not going for braces
If u are going for orthodontic treatment it has to be done for the entire mouth,it cannot be limited to few teeth.the treatment duration can range from 8-12 months.
Next Steps
Kindly meet ur orthodontist so that he can explain u the outcomes and procedures to be followed
Yes a traumatic bite can cause damage to the gums of opposing teeth. It is important to treat it as later it may cause damage to your teeth. Treatment is for all teeth as a few teeth cannot be moved without affecting other teeth. The treatment usually lasts for a year or so. You can opt for ceramic braces which look quite aesthetic
Hi.....Your upper teeth hitting the lower teeth can cause trauma which can lead to gum recession. Orthodontic treatment is not limited to few teeth and involves all teeth. Duration ranges from a year to two depending on the severity of your case.
