One TB drug at a time?
My mother who is 76years was diagnosed with Pulmonary TB incidentally and it's in starting phase. Started with AKT4 but reactions were very bad after 5 days, severe vomiting, nausea and full weakness. Admitted hospital, LFT reports showed abnormal range. So stopped for 4 days and still LFT reports are not that much normal. Now suggested to start the medication with Ethambutol first, review LFT reports after three days and introduce next one and again LFT and introduce third drug. Sputum test is negative and gene expert is positive for TB. So is this approach OK?

Could have been started with 3 to 4 non liver toxic drugs together instead of one at a time to avoid development of resistance. One drug at a time under regular lft cover is for starting first line drugs again after lft has become normal. A detailed evaluation is required
