I have been suffering from depression anxiety issues from past five years. After my 1st pregnancy I developed mild OCD as well. From past one year I am on Sertraline 100mg twice a day. Now I am 7 weeks pregnant, when I got to know about my 2nd pregnancy I myself started taking serta 100 mg only in the night. But from past two days I really can't control my ocd thoughts also I have 2 year old kid. How safe this medicine is? Can I continue taking them? Please help me🙏🏾🙏🏾😔

See apart from medication, regular therapy sessions are recommended because during pregnancy times taking medicines only advised by the doctor which are safe and pregnancy is okay but apart from that you take therapy to learn on your own the techniques to manage the OCD thoughts or anxiety or depressive thoughts because it will really help you in the long run. Since you have the tendency towards it I will help you with that you can reach out to me. All the best.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATION WITHOUT CONSULTING A PSYCHIATRIST IT CAN BE A HARM TO YOURSELF AND BABY.
Especially during pregnancy, a Psychiatrist will weigh out the risks and benefits of medication and advise you suitably.
The decision to continue/stop/decrease the dose of medication after finding out about pregnancy should be taken after detailed assessment of the course and nature of psychiatric illness.
Next Steps
Should seek psychiatric consultation
Health Tips
Taking Sertraline is relatively a safer drug as compared to many other psychiatric medications in pregnancy, so you should not panic.
However, all the decisions about the medication should only be taken after consultation only .
