Postpartum depression can be deeply distressing, and you don't have to go through it alone. Even when the baby is 18 months old, emotional difficulties related to the postpartum period can still need attention and appropriate treatment. Since you are already consulting a psychiatrist, it is good to continue your prescribed treatment and consider regular psychological counselling/therapy alongside it. Therapy can help with persistent sadness, anxiety, guilt, overwhelm, sleep difficulties, relationship stress and adjustment to motherhood. With the right support and treatment, recovery is possible. Please don't hesitate to seek professional help, and if you ever experience thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, seek urgent psychiatric/emergency support immediately. > > **You deserve support too—not just the baby.** 🌷

Hi, thank you for sharing your concern. I appreciate that you have already sought help from a psychiatrist for postpartum depression. Taking professional help is an important step towards recovery. Along with the ongoing psychiatric treatment, consulting a counselling psychologist can also be beneficial. Psychological therapies such as CBT and supportive counselling can help you manage negative thoughts, emotional distress, stress related to motherhood, and gradually improve your overall well-being. Recovery takes time, so continue your treatment regularly and stay connected with your mental health professionals. You do not have to go through this alone. Take one step at a time. Take care. I’m sorry you’re going through this. The good news is that you’ve already taken an important step by seeking help from a psychiatrist. Postpartum depression is treatable, and with the right treatment and support, most mothers recover. Keep taking your medication exactly as prescribed, attend your follow-up appointments, and don’t expect yourself to “snap out of it.” Try to share your feelings with a trusted family member, rest whenever your baby rests, and spend a few minutes each day doing something just for yourself, even if it’s only a short walk or listening to calming music. One suggestion: Along with medication, consider starting psychotherapy (especially CBT or interpersonal therapy), as the combination often helps recovery more than medication alone. Take therapy. You need some personal space and distance from your child, if you can arrange a helper, if not ask your family members to take care of child for few hours. During those hours you should not be disturbed unless emergency and you read a book, listen to song, watch a movie or go to spa , body massage or head massage, or do any pampering that makes you better. Depression is tough to overcome, sit in sunlight for half an hour and just focus plan your day, only day by day and stick to it, it’s a temporary phase, connect with counsellor weekly, take care of your health, bye.
