We do encounter patients who take Meprate because the pregnancy test is negative, but a subsequent test becomes positive. Most often their pregnancies are not affected, however literature states that Meprate should be avoided in pregnancy due to risk of birth defects.
Next Steps
Ideally wait till 21 days of unprotected intercourse and if no periods till then do Urine Pregnancy test with first morning sample. If negative, you can safely take Meprate. If you are not keen on waiting for so long, Take Tab Duphaston 10 mg at bedtime for 10 days and once you stop it you will get your period if not pregnancy. If pregnanctm Duphaston is absolutely safe in pregnancy.

Urine pregnancy test: Tells about BHCG concentration in Urine, which may vary with Urine collection time, its concentration in urine and any faulty Pregnancy test device. Serum Beta HCG:  Tells about blood concentration of BHCG which is diagnostic test. Not Influenced by above factors. When in dilemma,  always do Serum Beta HCG. If it is positive for pregnancy then Do not take Meprate tablet.

Then check for serum beta HCG to be sure whether the missed period is due to pregnancy or not
