Hello
Kajal (kohl) is not recommended for babies, even if marketed as “herbal” or “safe”.
Many brands — even homemade ones — may contain:
Lead, which can be toxic
Charcoal, soot, or other irritants
Preservatives or fragrance that can irritate baby’s eyes or skin
Risks of Using Kajal:
Eye irritation or infection
Blocked tear ducts
Risk of lead poisoning if used regularly
Allergic reactions on skin
Next Steps
If unavoidable (cultural reasons): Using a small black dot (bindhi) made with natural kajal substitute (like ghee + lamp soot), but only on the forehead, not near the eyes.
Avoid ready-made kajal sticks or tubes, especially unlabelled or ayurvedic products not tested for heavy metals.

No form of kajal should be applied to a baby’s eyes or skin
These products may contain harmful substances like lead or other irritants, which can cause allergic reactions, eye infections, or even long-term damage. Kajal has no proven benefits and is not recommended by me
