Hi. Ingrown toe nail or Onychocryptosis - essentially needs a special surgery ( lateral nail avulsion with partial nail matrix ablation ) so as to 1. Relieve the ingrowth 2. Remove part of the nail growing 3. Prevent recurrence 4. & also Treat existing infection. Preventing recurrence of ingrown wil also thereby prevent pain and infection. Also maintain nail hygiene, trim the nail in the right manner and prevent tight and occlusive foot wear. Consult your Dermatosurgeon / dermatologist for more details. Warm regards, Dr Govind Suresh Mittal,  Therapeia skin hair and ENT centre,  Bengaluru.
