This can be due to any dental infection or due to mumps . There can be possibilities of any trauma which happened to your child in your absence , like he fell while playing etc. Ask him about it. But its better to consult your nearest Paediatric dentist as soon as possible because only clinical diagnosis can lead to better evaluation of the swelling and pain.
