Hi, Clicking while function is due to the disk in the joint popping out and getting back. The reason for the disk malfunction is muscle spasm and dysfunction. All this happens because some teeth or restoration on the teeth might be placed in such a way that doesn't allow closure of the jaws comfortably. Sometimes the body adapts to the problem, but other times it only aggravates, which is when you show a specialist. Treatment involves deprogramming the muscles, recording the ideal joint position on a device and identifying which tooth/teeth are deflecting the joint. The correction is done then in the mouth. For the time being you can apply heat packs to the joint and also gargle with warm water. Try soft diet. Avoid opening your mouth too wide.

Hello, If you have recently got any fillings or dental restorations,  please get them re evaluated as this could be a reason for sudden clicks on one side of your jaw. Any other changes also needs to be discussed to rule out occlusion anomalies. Sometimes dentist may advice you for xray to check the condition of your tmj joint ( joint that joins lower jaw to the skull)
Next Steps
get it evaluated by a dentist expert in tmj
