Hi... Pls do not sit at home for a self diagnosis... It can be something like a severe spasm to facet lock... It gives similar presentations...
Next Steps
u need to see a physiotherapist and let them decide if u need only hot formentation or contrast treatment which requires icing as well, also this would require some manual therapy which could be MFR or even low grade mobilization of facet, to be done by the therapist
Health Tips
if u are not allergic to ice... do cold formentation for 10 mins .. it will never worsen .. maybe it can help... but be very careful as icing also causes burns like heat.
Visit musculoskeletal physiotherapist asap,...ur trapezius muscles and deep neck flexors have become stiff on one side. .it tends to hv changes in spine as well....go for physitherapy..before it shifts to other muscles

Probably a catch. Just take hot fomentation thrice a day as home remedy. But u need to visit a physical therapist soon. If treated correctly, the pain will be cured in about 5-7 days.
Health Tips
Try gentle neck stretches if possible not extending in painful range
Please give your neck rest and don’t keep checking your pain by moving neck repeatedly, it will worsen it.
Apply hot water bag for 10 to 15 mins, twice to thrice a day.
Next Steps
Please visit a physiotherapist if pain doesn’t subside or increases
