Medicines and patches are effective only if the root cause of smoking is also addressed to. Even a single puff of smoking is bad not only physically but contaminates the consciousness and mindset because the ingredients in alcohol/tobacco/cigarette/bidi are basically intoxicants or poisonous. Please remember that alcohol/drugs/smoking is toxic to your body, mind and well-being. The earlier you can stop this habit, the healthier it can be for you. The lower taste and sinful habit of alcohol/smoking/drugs can be stopped by replacing it with the higher taste. Simply read nice books which give you a higher meaning to life than chemicals in alcohol/drugs/smoking In place of alcohol, spend your time by doing transcendental meditation or Bhakti yoga and Chant the names of God Who you have faith in. It has been scientifically proved that by doing Yoga and Chanting, the habit of alcohol/smoking/drugs can be stopped. By chanting with love, soon you would be swimming in an ocean of pleasure which is million times greater than flickering pleasure of intoxicants like alcohol, and automatically the attraction to the low taste of alcohol/tobacco/drugs would stop.To know how to break the dangerous habit of smoking at it's root, watch these useful short videos at www.videofortheday.com

You husband needs counselling, provided he is willing to quit. Nicotine patches can be used under medical supervision.

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  You can help him by making him nicotine patches or nicotine gum. It should help. But strong motivation is required. Kindly take the help of a de-addiction centre if it doesn't help. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.
