I read your message and I can understand your feelings. I really appreciate that you are trying to help your friend, but in this case, you need do just support him and talk with him and help him to go and consult with a psychologist/therapist...surely he needs a professional help and of course your support... Do take care...

He should meet psychologist and psychatrist .powerful technique, you take long, slow, deep breaths (also known as abdominal or belly breathing). As you breathe, you gently disengage your mind from distracting thoughts and sensations. Breath focus can be especially helpful for people with eating disorders to help them focus on their bodies in a more positive way

Hi.. Please involve his family and meet a Psychiatrist with or without him. The psychiatrist will make a diagnosis based of the symptoms you and his family will provide and also guide them on medication administration. You being a friend do not possess the medico-legal right to administer treatment, irrespective of your genuine intentions. He can take treatment on his own or his immediate family (blood relative/spouse) may do it on his behalf. You can help him seek treatment and even accompany him but taking matters completely into your own hands will put you in trouble.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist first and a Psychologist later. Medical Diagnosis is necessary. Psychotherapy/Counselling will take place sometime after the diagnosis and medication.
