My father is suffering from psychosis(depression) for about 3 months. We have been to a psychiatrist and he is under medication for 3 months. My father's major problem are anxiety and fearfulness.
Thought under medication for months his anxiety and fear has gone down But still he has not recovered enough to be considered a normal man.
He is not able to focus on his work as he used to.
He was in a habit of smoking and drinking but from the time his medication started he has stopped drinking though he still smokes about 7-8 cigarettes a day. Does smoking effects his mental health?
Please help....

Hello there, psychosis and depression are two separate entities, but can coexist with each other. Anxiety and fear can be treated with dose adjustment of medicine and psychotherapy (CBT) sessions on regular basis. Yes, off course alcohol and cigarettes cause anxiety and fearfulness.
