My father is taking the following medicines for a nerve/mental health condition:
Divalproex ER 250 mg
Risperidone + Trihexyphenidyl 2 mg
Nerve vitamins (Benfotiamine, Methylcobalamin, etc.)
He’s sleeping better now, but still gets angry and talks aggressively about past events.
He is not behaving the same he is used to do before. This is the second time this has been triggered. Last time was 1½year ago. We've used the same tablets for nearly 6 months and stopped.
What kind of food or lifestyle changes can help him recover better?
Thank you.

We don't know what's his diagnosis. He needs to be evaluated thoroughly. If we are thinking in terms of Bipolar disorder, doses mentioned are very low. It can be organic, secondary to brain pathology or seizure disorder etc. He needs to be evaluated for that. Food has nothing to do with his behaviour. He can have low calorie, high protein & high fibre food to avoid risk of cardiovascular problems which are common with above medicines. He can do light exercise or walk for 1 hour daily.
Next Steps
consult Psychiatrist & get him evaluated thoroughly.
Consult the psychiatrist who prescribed him the above treatment. Alternatively you can consult any other psychiatrist also for proper assessment.
As for the lifestyle modification, most psychiatric illness need proper treatment as lifestyle changes can only help the mind and body more receptive to positive effects of drugs.
He can start doing physical exercise, breathing and relaxation exercises, meditation
