Mucoid Degeneration of ACL
Hello, I am a 22 year old male. In last week of February 2021 I was playing badminton when I suddenly felt a sharp pain behind my left knee. I couldn't walk properly for 2 weeks or so and the pain gradually reduced. Today, the pain is not there in normal activities like running or other exercises but it pains a little bit while jumping suddenly, squatting all the way down or standing up after sitting cross legged for some time. Doctor adviced MRI scan and it has detected Mucoid Degeneration of ACL. My pain is not a lot and it pains very rarely or when I use indian toilet. Doctor adviced me to wear knee brace ans take rest 1. Is this the right way to go forward? 2. Can I continue playing cricket or trekking regularly without any serious damage being caused?( Im not a sportsperson, I play sometimes) 3. Can I continue exercise and workout? 4. Is there any need for surgery or as such? Please help me in this regard because I'm feeling nervous about it even if pain is very less. Thankyou

Mri can sometimes  can't  pick a tear and label as mucoid degeneration. All depends on your clinical assessment If you have laxity while walking on uneven surface, difficulty with stairs, you should get arthroscopic evaluation and if tear found then surgery.
