Eight to ten months back, a dog’s teeth just touched your thumb skin, leaving only a minor mark with irritation but no bleeding, no pain, no redness. You washed the area with soap immediately, and later on you also took a tetanus injection.
Since:
• The incident happened many months ago,
• There were no bleeding wounds,
• The dog is alive and healthy even now,
A dog bite 8-10 Months ago is unlikely to pose a risk of rabies especially if the dog has remained healthy.
Rabies symptoms typically appear from 20 days to three months of the bite based on the area affected and the nerve supply to the area because the virus travels retrograde from the site of inoculation to the central nervous system.
As the dog is still alive it's highly probable that it was not infected with rabies. .
Next Steps
nothing to worry
Health Tips
In India, any bite from a warm-blooded animal, especially a dog, cat, bats and monkeys should be treated as a potential rabies exposure and PEP should be started immediately
