Metformin Creatinine Level
Hi, I am 43 yr old & a Type 2 Diabetic patient since 2011..my blood sugar is in good control( Hb1AC is around 6.0) due to regular exercise and medicine (Glycomet GP 1 - One tablet before BF & Dinner). My creatinine levels are around 1.55 (eGFR ~ 54) proably because of some scarring in Kidney due to UTI in 2012. Given that Metformin is not suitable for creatinine levels above 1.5 what sugar medicines should i be taking? what would be a good alternative to what I am taking now? Thanks, Prakash

1) Metformin is no more a contraindication for this level of renal dysfunction 2) You should probably reduce dose of glimeperide and replace it with DPP4I
