Metformin for type 2 diabetes?
Hi , My husband has been recently diagnosed (2 weeks back )with type2 diabetes and he is 33 years old . He has been asked to take metformin medication .. but I have read this has a lot of side effects and is banned in US . Can he still take metformin ? Is it advisable??

It is not completely banned , some companies have been recalled by fda

Metformin is the one of the oldest anti diabetic drugs . This is the safest drug to take with very minimal or no side effects . The Metformin is not banned in US rather some batches of certain brands were recalled by FDA as some impurities were found in them .
