You need to give support and rest to knee , to heal the ligament.
After Healing you need physiotherapy for proper flexibility of ligament as well as knee joint and for your gait training.

Just check your full body posture and get it corrected as we don't walk with just our knee as a single joint moving, but we move as a whole. Therefore we need to check neighbouring joints and their Strength training enough, so that knee do not go for overweight bearing. Each person and his Strength is different, proper examination and treating body as a whole is worth. Don't just mingle around MCL; being a hockey player, core strength is equally important. You can check it by standing on one leg, if your foot shivers that is the cause.
