Managing side effects of stopping BC
Hello! I have been unable to take my Xulane BC patch for nearly one month. Ive been on it for nearly 10 years. Its unavailable for purchase near me. Once I fly back home I can restart. What can I expect in terms of side effects of not having it? Please keep in mind that Im not using it for preventing pregnancy. I'm using it to manage my hormonal issues with PCOS, Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, etc. What can I do to navigate the moodiness, irritability, etc until I can put the patch back on? How long will it take for my cycle to balance again?

Missing the patch for a month can lead to hormonal fluctuations, so you may notice irregular periods, mood swings, irritability, acne, or pelvic pain flare (PCOS/endometriosis symptoms). Cycle: It may take 1–3 months to regulate after restarting. Till restart: Maintain routine (sleep, exercise), reduce caffeine/sugar, and consider magnesium/B-complex (after doctor advice) for mood. Symptom control: NSAIDs for pain (if suitable), heating pads, and stress management can help. Option: If delay continues, consult a doctor for temporary oral hormonal alternatives.
