Often one finds it difficult to speak with family members. Seeking help of a trained professional would be worthwhile. There is strong need to address the immediate issue of depression symptoms. The root cause i.e - childhood sexual abuse would take a bit longer to deal with and require therapy.

Hi, from your description it seems that the patient is suffering from an ongoing Depression or there may be associated PTSD . A detailed evaluation by a Psychiatrist will be necessary to come to a diagnosis. Treatment will include medication and mainstay of treatment would be counseling. The patient has to learn to get over the trauma of the past and look forward to a future full of hope and promise! Please consult a Psychiatrist. The Patient can definitely get much better with treatment. Hope this helps, All the Best!
