Hi, from your description it seems that the patient is suffering from an ongoing Depression or there may be associated PTSD . A detailed evaluation by a Psychiatrist will be necessary to come to a diagnosis.
Treatment will include medication and mainstay of treatment would be counseling. The patient has to learn to get over the trauma of the past and look forward to a future full of hope and promise!
