Low back pain
Dear Sir, My father is complaining of severe low back pain since 15 days. MRI shows disc bulges at 3 lumbar levels and a disc fragment extruded in the right lateral recess impinging on right L5 nerve root. Please advise.

Hi. If it is an extruded disc with root compression then he might need to undergo surgery. No way that the extruded fragment can be addressed in any other form.. Consult your ortho for the details. Let him examine him neurologically and then go ahead.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.

Hello There. I can understand your concern. going bu the MRI reports, there is a problem with the spine which is causing compression on the nerve root which is causing the pain. the pain will subside when the compression is relieved. you should ask him to wear a lumbar corset and ask him to take rest and consult a orthopedician in person . he may need a surgery for decompression.
