Leg and hand swollen
My maternal uncle is age is of 75 from few days his legs and finger hands all seems to be swollen, he is also having ashthma and cholesterol problem..for that he is on asthama medicine and rosuvasttatin 10 , he undergoes a CT scan yesterday,can some tell is it normal or having problems

Get his blood tests for Proteins and Haemoglobin. Anaemia with hypoproteinaemia is the commonest cause particularly in this age. Ensure his arms and legs are raised a little above bed level while lying. Dont allow him to sit for long hanging his legs down. Gravitational oedema is another possibility.

CT scan suggests diffuse cerebral and cerebellar atrophy. That is a part of the ageing process. As far as swelling of the limbs is concerned it is worthwhile getting Doppler studies done to see if there is any vasculopathy which is causing swelling of the limbs. Apparently he is not Diabetic and Hypertensive. He should also Complete Health checkup package from one of the Multinational Laboratories. This also include coagulation profile and viral markers for Liver
