Age related changes including pain, stiffness at knee joint is very common. I would recommend to consult a Physiotherapist nearby where the patient can visit on a regular basis. Let the therapist do the assessment and carry out the treatment accordingly. Keeping the age, functional activities of the patient in mind, it may take a while to show the obvious changes in pain level but it's recommended to keep the consistency in the treatment. That's the sure way to attain the effective results. Even after finishing the Physiotherapy sessions with the therapist, the patient has to follow all the instructions and precautions as per advised by the Physiotherapist for long term effectiveness.
Next Steps
consult a Physiotherapist nearby. you can always book an online consultation here with me on practo regarding the same.
Health Tips
please present all your reports related to knee joint issue and share all the medical or surgical history of the patient with the Physiotherapist

Ultrasound therapy for a week, then knee strengthening exercises will be helpfull. I would like to suggest for x ray of knee joint to see if any changes to or near knee joint. At home can apply diclofenac ointment following hot water fermentation will also reduces the pain.
