First thing iis to leave your stress of not being able to feed your baby adequately. Second, eat properly and drink plenty of fluids. When you feed your baby, empty your first breast completely and then put the baby to the second beast. This helps the baby to get hind milk which is thicker and more nutritious and helps you to produce more milk too. Milk production depends on suckling of the baby. If you do not latch your baby properly, the baby will not be able to suckle well.
Low milk supply is very common and usually very fixable. The most important thing is frequency â the more you feed or pump, the more your body produces. Ideally feed every 2-3 hours and don't skip sessions. Make sure hydration is good (at least 3 litres of water/day) and calorie intake is adequate â breastfeeding burns a lot of energy. Stress significantly reduces supply, so rest as much as you can. For medications, Domperidone (10mg three times a day) is commonly prescribed by doctors to boost milk production and is safe for nursing mothers â please consult a doctor to get this prescribed. Also check the baby's latch if you're directly breastfeeding, as a poor latch is one of the most common reasons milk supply appears low.
