L5-S1 space decreased
I am having back pain from last two weeks and last week itself i consulted  a doctor near my home and i also did an x-ray which says L5-s1 space decreased ,so is it a serious problem? and can it be prevented from further problems like disc bulging and other problems and how many days will it take to cure this space problem.

Hi there! Disc bulge is an irreversible issue. Therefore, caution should be taken while lifting weights (avoid heavy weights), do not bend forwards, avoid jerks to spine. Physiotherapy is the key to treatment; back strengthening exercises will prevent further deterioration As I said, medical cure is not possible. In acute case, pain killer and some physiotherapy is required and later continue with back strengthening exercises and precautions. Surgery is done in severe cases but it is considered as the last option.
