Knee Replacement - Swelling in Legs
We are planning for knee surgery for Mom , as the cartilage is almost gone in knees . One query is that she has swelling in the legs. And we have done with other tests like ecg , 2d echo and the tests are normal. So in this case, as there is swelling in legs , does knee replacement surgery will have any issues ? Or is the swelling in legs could also be due to the knee cartilage worn out problem . We haven't done the venous Doppler Test so far. Please suggest ....

sir please show ur operating surgeon leg sweeling will not be because of arthritic knee...

I have to examine him to see if swelling confined to knee or involving whole leg than we can take decision further if only knee swelling no need of Doppler test

Depends upon the amount of swelling If it's minimal then mostly its because of knee problem but if it's significant then Doppler study should be done to see any vascular problem Final decision can be taken after seeing patient clinically
