I am a Bharathanatyam dancer and I started having sharp pain on the medial side of my knee about 5 weeks ago after my dance practice session. I don't remember injuring my knee, but the pain just started after I came home and started resting. I started physio therapy 2 weeks ago, and also stopped dancing at that point. I basically have sharp burning pain with full flexion of the knee such as with a deep squat. I got an MRI yesterday, since my pain has not improved despite starting physiotherapy 2 weeks ago. My MRI report states that there is a grade 2 signal in the medial meniscus and a mild acl strain along with chondromalacia. How long will it take on an average to become completely pain free without surgery ? Thank you !

For an active dancer like you with a vulnerable age group for knee problems, please be a little careful. Any knee pain beyond 3-4 weeks should be taken seriously otherwise chances of Knee pain becoming long lasting may increase.
Next Steps
Consult with a qualified Pain Management Specialist.
Health Tips
Avoid squatting for next few days.
