Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hi. Indication of surgery is pain and degree of joint destruction. If knee replacement is the option go for it. Seek a second opinion by a different surgeon. With x rays and patient showing up... Well. You have already been waiting g for three or four years and pain is severe as you told. Waiting will just keep her same in agonising pain. It's better to get it done than to wait for some miracle to happen. Longer your wait will lead to lesser success post op. And let me remind you of all the time she is in pain in between.

Hi. I would like to see x Rays of patient to advise you more about treatment. You may visit a joint surgeon who performs joint presentation and as well as joint Replacement surgery. There are various options of treatment which are possible for knee arthritis depending upon stage of disease and expectations of patient.

Its fine with your docs assessment and advice, what i would suggest is see some physio he could help you with pain management as well as improving muscle strength, so that could help in making any future descision as any how strengthening and maintaining flexibility will help her even if you need to go for surgery

If the pain is due to arthritis, then ususally it depends upon thd stage of disease. If the arthritis is in some part of the knee then Partial knee replacement is an option. If its advanced involving whole knee then TKR is only option. Better get a consultation from a joint replacement surgeon. Partial knee replacement is a good option , if possible in y our case.
