Pain associated with sound in the knee joint could be due to several reasons. Meniscal injuries and tear can cause sound in the knee joint. Chondromalacia patella causes pain but usually is not associated with sound while climbing stairs. Certain other conditions like the IT band syndrome causes sounds in the knee joint during folding and straightening the knee joint
Next Steps
Get a.physical consultation for better diagnosis. MRI of the knee joint may be required
Health Tips
Avoid activities causing pain.
