Kid not eating food post fever
Hi Dr ,regarding 3.8year 13.20 lg boy,he got very bad fever for entire last week ,it was around 103 sometimes,he was on antibiotics and fever medicine till yesterday,this Monday his fever got reduced and even though fever got reduced he is eating very less food ,can you please let me know the possible reason and also how to make him eat food like before .

If the child has even a slight fever, they won’t feel hungry and may refuse to eat. In this condition, just make sure the child does not get dehydrated. As soon as the fever subsides, their appetite will naturally return. Until then, if needed, you can let the child observe *Langhan* (fasting) and give them warm water. However, always consult your nearest Vaidya before following these measures.

Give him small frequent meal.Increase liquid intake by adding soups and home made juices and coconut water. Also see if his eyes are yellow or stool clay coloured for bilirubin levels.

Usually post fever digestion is slow. Better to not rush into complete meal. Instead start with light & nourishing diet like khichdi with ghee.
