Do muscle strengthening exercises- that will be more helpful. She need further evaluation, consult orthopaedic doctor. Hyaluronidase injection might be helpful for arthritis

Never u got for steroid injection for the joint it will be pain free for 6 month and after that your joint will get degraded which will make u even worse that before just consult a physiotherapist near by and have ur treatment done and follow the exercises taught to her continue them on daily basis if she is obese have to reduce weight
