Jaw surgery
I had a jaw surgery 3 weeks ago and a plate was fixed at the center of my jaw to heal the fracture. Will that plate be removed later or would it remain permanently. And to fix bicondylar fractures at both sides of my jaw archbars are placed. Does archbars help in healing mandible fractures with time

Hello , You might have undergone open reduction surgery , Arch bar will help to prevent any movement  in jaw which Ultimately help to get heal faster . Once your fractured get completely  healed . You Oral surgeon will discuss and remove your arch bar . Still your Oral surgeon will answered it properly depending on healing improvement.

Hi, Usually the plates fixed are not removed. They are made of biocompatible material and will not cause you any harm.For a more detailed answer your surgeon is the best person to ask .
