There are 2 types of jaundice. One is physiological and other is pathological. physiological jaundice is very common and it's treatment is very simple. But yes, levels and seriousness depends on baby wt and day of life. So consult your doctor and go ahead with his suggestions

Newborn jaundice at day 6 of life needs to be seen is it increasing or decreasing so get another test done after 24 hrs.for a child who is born 2.5 kg any value beyond 12.5 needs to be treated and for a 3 kg child it's 15.the next reading after 24 hrs is important if it is increasing then it needs to be assessed and treated with phototherapy.
Treatment for jaundice is decided on the basis of birth weight, blood group of baby and mother, whether child is fullterm or not, what is the status of feeding. 14.5 alone can't decide whether treatment is required or not
