Jaundice bilirubin
My baby is 8 days old and his bilirubin level was 17 on the day of discharge. This level was increased to 19 when he was 6 days old. After taking phototherapy for 24 hrs his bilirubin level was decreased to 16.42 now after 36 hours his level has again increased to 17.65. Just wanted to check whether this is normal level for 8 days old baby?

Many more details are needed like is the baby born at 38 weeks or less, is it sick, blood group ofother and baby etc. Please contact directly for second opinion. If baby is above 38 weeks and feeding well, this level is acceptable. Above 20 only there is risk of complications. It's not possible to comment with this much information
