Is Sunscreen required?
My 6 year old has started basketball classes after school. It happens from 3 pm to 4 pm (Bangalore). It's not that sunny during this time. We could see that her skin is getting tanned a little day by day. Do we have to apply Sunscreen at this age? Or can we leave it as it is?

Greetings Yes, you should definitely apply sunscreen to your 6-year-old.Even between 3 PM and 4 PM, ultraviolet (UV) rays remain active. The tanning clearly indicates that her skin is absorbing solar radiation.Choose a pediatric-approved, broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.Look for safe active ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.Select a water-resistant formula since outdoor basketball involves heavy sweating.

Hello Yes you can apply sunscreen whenever the child steps out 10-15 min prior and can be reapplied every 2-3 hrs.. sunscreen should be spf 30 or more broad spectrum covering both UvA and Uv B water resistant and containing zinc oxide would be beneficial..

A 6-year-old can definitely use sunscreen. Even though 3–4 PM in Bangalore doesn’t feel very hot, UV rays are still present and can cause gradual tanning and long-term skin damage.
Next Steps
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) on exposed areas (face, neck, arms, legs) 15–20 minutes before basketball.
