Since your baby is nearing 6 months, you can start complementary feeding while continuing breastfeeding/formula. Begin with one soft, iron-rich food once daily (2–3 teaspoons), gradually increasing the quantity and variety. Introduce one new food every 3 days, avoid honey, salt, sugar, and choking hazards. Feel free to consult for a personalized feeding plan.

Your baby is growing well. Start rice water, mashed bananas or potatoes. Add curd, dal, etc. Add one thing and continue it for a week before adding a different item. You can add eggs too.

Greetings Your baby's current parameters of 71 cm and 7.1 kg represent steady physical growth relative to the birth weight. At six months, you can introduce smooth purees or well-mashed home-cooked foods like rice porridge, ragi, or single vegetables. Offer solid food just once or twice a day in small amounts, such as 2 to 3 spoonfuls, to let the baby test textures. Introduce only one new food at a time and wait 3 to 5 days to monitor for any allergic reactions or digestive changes. Continue with your regular mixed milk feeds as breast milk or formula remains the primary source of nutrients

Complementary feeding should ideally be started at around 6 months of age while continuing breastfeeding/formula. Begin with thick, home-prepared foods such as rice cereal, mashed rice with dal, khichdi, mashed fruits (banana, apple), vegetables, or ragi. Start with 2–3 teaspoons once daily and gradually increase the quantity and variety over the next few weeks. Introduce one new food every 3–5 days to watch for any allergy. There is no need to delay common allergenic foods such as well-cooked egg (after introducing basic foods). Avoid honey, salt, sugar, cow's milk as the main drink, and choking hazards. Continue breastfeeds/formula on demand.
Next Steps
Start complementary feeding once the baby completes 6 months, continue vitamin D/iron supplementation if advised, and monitor weight gain and developmental milestones at regular follow-ups.
Health Tips
Offer food with a spoon, not in a feeding bottle. Keep mealtimes relaxed and avoid force-feeding. Repeated exposure (8–10 times) may be needed before a baby accepts a new food.
