Several factors should be assessed before deciding between dental implants and complete dentures: 1. Bone health(main factor in case of Implants): The condition of the jawbone is crucial for dental implant success. Adequate bone density and volume are necessary to support the implant. A bone graft may be required if there is insufficient bone mass. Complete dentures do not require as much bone density for support. 2. Oral health: The overall health of the gums, remaining teeth, and oral tissues should be evaluated. Dental implants require healthy gums and tissues for successful integration, while dentures may be a better option for individuals with significant oral health issues.Special in this case as he has a history of tobacco chewing. 3. Patient preference: Understanding the patient's preferences, lifestyle, and expectations is essential. Some individuals may prefer the stability and permanence of dental implants, while others may prioritize cost-effectiveness or the convenience of removable dentures. 4. Aesthetic considerations: Dental implants offer a more natural-looking and lifelike appearance compared to dentures, which can sometimes look less natural, especially if not properly fitted or maintained. 5. Functional requirements: Dental implants provide better chewing efficiency and stability compared to dentures, allowing for a more varied diet and improved speech. However, dentures may be more suitable for individuals with limited jawbone support or who cannot undergo surgery for dental implants. 6. Long-term maintenance: Dental implants typically require less maintenance than dentures, as they are permanent fixtures that can be cared for like natural teeth. Dentures require regular cleaning, adjustments, and occasional replacement due to wear and changes in the jawbone. 7. Cost considerations: Dental implants are generally more expensive upfront compared to dentures. However, they may offer better long-term value and durability, potentially reducing the need for frequent replacements and adjustments associated with dentures. By considering these factors in consultation with a dentist or prosthodontist, individuals you can make an informed decision about whether dental implants or complete dentures are the best option for your specific needs and circumstances.

Hi, Please share your fathers medical history. At the age of 80years, to decide between implants or complete denture is important. The decision depends on his health condition and his bone health and oral hygiene. It is advisable to stop the habit of tobacco chewing. It is important to get your fathers consent on what he would like to get done. Visit a dentist and get a clinical evaluation and carry all his medical records and medications.
