Indirect Rabies Exposure
I want to know if indirect rabies exposure is possible, my scenario is that a cow sneezed or exhaled lightly on my arm and hand though it's nose, then I went home and washed my arm with soap but maybe forgot to wash my hand and then 15 minutes later I inserted finger inside my nose with my maybe unwashed hand, out of fear i took booster shot very next day, as people who already had rabies vaccine in past need 2 booster doses, I had 5 rabies shot 5 months ago and 5 rabies shot 1 year ago, do I need another booster dose, does this count as exposure or rabies risk

To answer your specific questions clearly: No, this does not count as a rabies exposure. No, there is no meaningful rabies risk in this scenario. No, you do not need another booster dose. Rabies transmission requires direct contact between an infected animal's saliva and a fresh wound or mucous membrane — it cannot be transmitted through breathing, sneezing, or exhaling onto intact skin. A cow sneezing on your arm is not a recognised exposure. Even if trace saliva were present on your hand, the rabies virus cannot survive for 15 minutes on dry skin — it is extremely fragile outside a living host. The subsequent touching of your nose carries no viable virus.
Next Steps
No vaccines, no tests, and no treatment are required. You already have excellent rabies immunity from your two complete vaccination courses over the past year, and the booster dose you already took adds further protection far beyond what is needed. You are very well protected. Given the level of worry this scenario has caused, I would gently suggest speaking with a doctor about health anxiety — repeated concerns about indirect, essentially zero-risk exposures can significantly affect wellbeing and are very effectively treated. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
