IBS - Diarrhea
Hello Doctors,
C/O -> Altered bowl habit and reduction in quantity of Stool . Abdominal pain was present few months back but now no pain and I am following the restricted diet like no oily, fast food or beverage.
Medications : 1.Rixmin 550 for 10 days
2. Colospa X for 2 months
3. Normaxin for 2 months
( Now no medicine )
Reports ->
CBC : Everything normal
CRP : 1.23 ( normal range <5 )
Fecal Calprotection: < 5 ( Normal range <50 )
Colonoscopy : Ceacum: few erosions are noted without any active oozing with normal vascular pattern of mucosa.
How serious is this situation??

Your reports are reassuring overall: a normal CBC, CRP of 1.23 and faecal calprotectin under 5 make active inflammatory bowel disease very unlikely.
A few caecal erosions with normal surrounding mucosa and normal vascular pattern are usually minor and non-specific, often related to preparation, NSAIDs, or a past infection, and the biopsy report will settle this.
So the picture fits diarrhoea-predominant IBS or a post-infective gut, which is troublesome but not dangerous.
Focus on regular meal timing, adequate hydration, limiting oily, spicy and very cold foods, and stress control; repeated courses of antibiotics are best avoided.

IBS doesn't damage mucus membrane..... If cecal erosions are noted,I doubt the diagnosis.
IBS is a functional disorder with no inflammation or physical damage, whereas IBD is a chronic structural disease driven by an immune response that causes tissue ulcers and damage....
Rectal bleeding, bloody diarrhea, unexplained weight loss, low fevers, and fatigue are seen in IBD.
Seek help from a gastroenterologist for proper diagnosis and management
