The reason for food lodgement between the teeth can be gum disease or tooth cavities..... the correct diagnosis out of these two options or any other reasons, if present, can be best evaluated by a dentist who performs a clinical examination..... please visit your dentist so that the right diagnosis and appropriate treatment can be arrived at..... most likely you will be requiring a session of tooth cleaning and a guidance about proper brushing technique and the use of interdental cleaning aids.... Regards.....

Hello a very good evening Well their are multiple reasons for the food lodgement and gaps 1. Most comman problem would be periodontititis which is nothing but gum infection where the space develops between tooth and gums. Later gums can go down which will create space between teeth followed by food lodgement, Because of this gums get infection  gums become red colour which is indication of infection from which bleeding might be there the stagnation of food and blood will cause the foul smell 2. Tooth decay between the teeth Visit the dentist get the cleaning (scaling) done he will check up if any gum infection is there means lot of gap between tooth and gums he might refer you to periodontist Good luck have a nice day
