Neha, what you're describing â getting startled by every sound, constantly feeling scared someone will appear, being unable to move freely in front of people, and feeling safer when alone â are classic signs of an anxiety disorder, likely with a heightened startle response linked to hypervigilance. This is a recognised condition that many young people experience and, importantly, it is very treatable. You are not alone in feeling this way, and it is brave to speak about it.
Next Steps
Please speak with your parents and see a psychiatrist or psychologist as soon as possible. This can improve significantly with counseling and sometimes short-term medication. You deserve to feel safe and comfortable â help is available. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
