Hello Need to see the x-ray for the exact location of canine to comment on it.still I could tell u this much- If canine is positioned ectopically but favourable position and not associated with any cyst then it is not remobed and can be brought down in the dental arch by brackets but if it's high up in rare and aberrant positions  then it needs to be removed.tje braces are applied for 1.5-2yrs.kindly attach the x-ray if possible.

I don't understand what you mean by ectopic canine . But if it is placed outside your arch then can be aligned . You may require extraction of premolars both in the upper and Lower jaw for correcting the canines . Consult an orthodontist and it may require 12 months minimum.
