I am the patient of herpes zoster.
Medication for herpes zoster is microvir( Famciclovir 500 )+ some other is going on.due to some misunderstanding after 4 days microvir 500 is changed with valcivir valacyclovir 500mg.currently I am facing severe pain in problem areas. please suggest me.

Thanks for the query. You should meet a Dermatologist for sure and initiate on appropriate treatment as early as possible. There are effective treatments available to reduce pain and dryness and some to reduce the shingles. Delaying or no treatment can lead to a condition called post herpetic neuralgia. Considering the above facts delaying consultation is not advisable. Other family members who never had chicken pox should be advised to refrain from close contact with affected member or isolate the affected member as shingles can cause chicken pox in others. The correct dosage of valcivir for herpes zoster is 1gm three times a day for 5 days. Please make sure you are taking the right dosage.
