Not all people may have RTPCR positive. Recently so many people are presenting to hospitals with covid symptoms, but their RTPCR is negative.
Exact reason is unknown.Probable reason may be patient being vaccinated or people with good immunity.
With RTPCR negative and patient having respiratory symptoms,we go for HRCT. HRCT tells us how much lungs are been effected.
Sometimes in elder people with RTPCR negative and having diabetes and hypertension we go for CTscan for early diagnosis and treatment.
Ct scan detect lung pathology better than any other modalities and even earliest changes can be identified in ct scan. Rtpcr maybe negative in very low viral load, but changes might be noticeable in HRCT chest. Hope this answers your question.
