I am consuming Ketorol DT for 10 days
I had a wisdom tooth extraction surgery after which I was prescribed ketorol DT for emergency purposes. I used to take at least 1 tablet a day, that surgery created another problem in adjacent molar for which I'm undergoing root canal treatment now, my doctor advised me to stop other pain killer and antibiotics and only take Ketorol DT as SOS. Hence, its been more than 10 days since I'm consuming this tablet. My doctor told me that it doesn't have any severe side effects but I would like to understand if it does have any long term side effects, how can I prevent them. I do not have any such kidney or liver problems.

Hello, Painkillers like Ketorol DT have adverse effect on stomach if taken for longer duration. Should always take in full stomach and should not be used for more than 5 days. It's only used for extreme pain so don't take it too often. Of you have moderate pain then there are safer alternatives.

Your wisdom tooth must have caused the decay in the adjacent tooth for which you are undergoing root canal treatment. If the pain is unbearable you can take ketorol DT else you can take mild painkiller like Dolo 650. Taking any medication for too long will definitely have side effects. Its better to avoid them and when needed should be taken in proper dose and  duration.

If pain is unbearable then only take Ketorol DT. Otherwise you can take Paracetamol. Do salt hot water gurgle 7-8 times a day.

There must be an erosional cavity in 2nd molar because of mesially tilted wisdom tooth. So RCT is being done. Surgery would have not created problem in adjacent tooth. Take tablet only if the pain is unbearable. Tablet will not cause any major side effects. If pain is less then you can have paracetamol also.
